Hi there, thanks for visiting!
I’m Lou, a 33 year old artist from Wellington, New Zealand. I dabble in all sorts of creative arts, but printmaking is my absolute favourite.
My husband and I spent about seven years away from New Zealand, and since our return two years ago we’ve been enjoying everything Aotearoa has to offer. We live in a little house on the town belt, surrounded by beautiful bush and birds. I’m a big nature geek and get a lot of peace and energy from the great outdoors, which is also where I get a lot of the inspiration for my art.
Hunting Bears is a blog about art, craft and living an adventurous life. I like to use this space to document my experiments in art, craft and design. I’d love it if you shared this journey with me.
In case you’re wondering about the name, no, I don’t actually hunt bears, but I am inspired by the ‘bear hunt’ – by which I mean the pursuit of adventure, the exploration of the unknown and an appreciation of the world around us.
I am currently studying for my Masters in Arts Therapy, which is reinforcing everything I know to be true about art and creativity: that it has the capacity to help us to heal and to connect with ourselves/others on all kinds of levels. I am also a trained teacher, and hope to one day run Hunting Bears workshops teaching others how to use art and craft to make the world a better place!
Come on… join the bear hunt. I dare you.
