Anti-Social Club #2: Nature

I was pretty happy when I saw the theme for this week’s Anti-Social Club: NATURE. ┬áNature is the biggest source of inspiration for my art and craft, so I certainly felt a lot less out of my comfort zone than last week.

I started with a bit of watercolour play, building a small abstract forest in greens and yellows.

Shane and I carved these leaf stamps on a stormy night this week.

I put the two together, printing the stamps in both green and black…

…then printed my large fantail lino block on top.

This is an idea I’ve had sitting at the back of my mind for a while now, this building of layers and media and colour, so it was good to have the impetus to give it a try. ┬áI’m really looking forward to trying it in a more planned way, using quality art paper and oil-based ink.

You can see the other nature-based works the other members came up with by checking out the Anti-Social Club page – if last week is anything to go by, there’s going to be some awesome work up there.
